Through my artwork, my goal is to communicate the many different aspects of my identity and how they have shaped my experiences and perspective. I want to explore the connections between my experiences and my identities, and how both impact each other, as well as send a positive message to those who can relate and/or identify similarly to myself: It is likely that people will form opinions on how you should act based on one or more of your identities, but having this information beforehand, you can come to terms with it and be prepared. One message that I want to convey through my artwork is that you are never going to please everyone, and so the important thing is to focus on yourself and how you feel comfortable identifying. Conflict can occur even between one's own identities, and this is also something I aim to demonstrate through my art—my pieces usually reflecting or originating from my experience as a female and how that carries into other facets of my identity. My art tends to be an outlet for self-reflection, and I want to encourage that in my audience, as I believe the best way to find happiness in one's identity is to be continuously striving to learn more about yourself and how you feel most comfortable expressing yourself, rather than focusing on the opinions of others.
